Summertime in my burnt orange world was just excellent when it came to food, events and parties. This summer saw me throwing a barbecue in the rain, catering with my sister for her 60 strong party in my back yard and providing goat kebabs for a dear friend’s baby shower.
I used to think bbq’s were easy enough for the man to take over the kitchen, but it did not quite work that way. I realised that they can be hard work… at least the way I went about them. So anyway, my bbq menu consisted of meat, lots of meat, salad and a fruity punch made by none other than one lovely gentleman I know! He made a fruity punch with a dash of something alcoholic and red-hot chilli peppers… it was divine! Husbands are full of surprises!
A lot of what I did make however was inspired by none other than the Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten.
My menu featured her beef sliders
And her creamy cucumber salad.
As I am well and truly no bbq expert, I will leave the bbq recipes and meat marinades up to the true bbq heroes.
