Óbrigada!

Well my beautiful people we just got back from a wonderful and restful holiday in the Algarve of Portugal via Lisbon. It was a short break but long enough to forget about the London madness and the CHILL that comes with it.

Aside from sleeping at 8pm as soon as the baby does, and having an afternoon nap when the baby does, we discovered that there are a few gems to enjoy in the Algarve. One of them of course is the Good Food! Before I move on to describing every other delightful experience, let me first tell you about how we got there.

My wonderful baby is actually a 2 year old toddler going on 16! In fact, she turned 2 the very day we took that flight. I spare a moment of silence just in case you have recognised the sheer implications of turning 2 on an airline. If you haven’t got it yet, I will tell you in a minute.

Now we got onto that plane, and I mean we got on, then waited a few minutes. Only problem is a few minutes can seem like an eternity to a toddler who has been up since 5am.

1 Sweetie fasten your seatbelt…..
2 No!….
3 excuse me ma’am but you are going to have to strap her in…..
4 Whew! Taking off.
5 No settling for my girl, not even during turbulence resulting in a hysterical baby, vomit and kind passengers running all over the plane for paper towels just 10 minutes before landing.
6 My little angel suddenly fast asleep 5 mins before landing on a 3 hour flight.

Aw, I love my little girl for making me a real gronup, stretching me to my limits, helping me see that fretting over nothing is pointless when there are other important things and making sure I savour every moment of the rest of that holiday. It has only just begun.

PS. Also hope you realise parenting is not for sissies! To all you mummies and daddies out there, carers, nannies, aunties and uncles; I salute you! And by the way, she turned 2 on the flight which meant she paid full price!!!!!! Golly!
